NOTD: Christian Louboutin 'Rouge Louboutin' Nail Color

Alright, let me warn you first that this NOTD post will be pretty photo-heavy. Well, how can it not be when it is featuring the extravagant Rouge Louboutin - one of the most anticipated beauty release this year! Of course, I was initially reluctant to spend 50 bucks on a bottle of nail polish, but the packaging did completely win me over. I knew it would look beautiful on my dresser :) Rouge Louboutin, which is the color of Louboutin's iconic red sole. is the first shade released, and many will be following (which I hope I won't be liking any, or else I will definitely become penniless).

The nail polish comes in a very nice sturdy box. I traveled with it in my luggage and the box kept it safe through all the impacts. The brush is very, very long - longer than I expected - and you wouldn't wanna be careless with this since you can literally stab someone (or yourself, for that matter).

I really love the gradient on the bottle. It just make something that would be simple so extraordinary :)

Honestly, I don't like the fact that the applicator is not separated like the ones from Dior and many other high-end brands. I know it's supposed to be ergonomic, but I don't feel comfortable using this brush at all. I'm not a pro at applying nail polish, and this brush is not helping. It's a bit heavy, and I cannot move the brush as freely. But, on a positive note, I feel that it can get better with practice.

Rouge Louboutin is a deep, rich red color. To be blunt, I don't think the formula is worth 50 bucks. I want to say it's the best nail polish in the world, but the truth is that its quality is just as good as most high-end brands. The consistency is a bit on a thicker side, so it may be hard to apply for someone who is not that good in applying polishes - it requires an amount of effort to apply thin layers. If you apply too thick, there will be streaks, and bubbles will form as the polish is drying. Good things about this polish, apart from the amazing bottle design, are that it is fast-drying (faster than majority of the brands I've tried - on par with the 3CE's nail lacquer) and very opaque (you will still need 2 layer though). Also, it is chip-resistant. I went through a week with minimal chipping. As much as I wish I do, I do not own Louboutin shoes, so I cannot compare if Rough Louboutin's shade is the same as the sole. However, I've heard that it is.

The design of Rouge Louboutin is truly a masterpiece, but the formula is comparable to other cheaper high-end brands. If (a very big if) I have extra savings, I might splurge on other shades primarily because the bottle just looks so beautiful on my dresser. But, for practical nail polish, I will stick to 3 Concept Eyes, which only cost 4 bucks each while the formula is on par with high-end ones.
