3 Concept Eyes Creamy Lip Color 'No. 4 Joyce' Review & Swatches

Next up for the 3 Concept Eyes product review is the Creamy Lip Color. I first saw this on my fellow blogger Filia's blog and fell in love with the color #4 Joyce. Since the lip lacquer from the brand dries my lips out, I really hope that this would not turn out the same way. It is a newer lipstick release from the brand and is more focused on being glossy instead of their usual matte finish. It claims to apply like butter and gives off vivid glossy color while moisturizing the lips. There are many beautiful shades but #4 caught my attention first, and I'm having a love-hate relationship with it. Keep reading to find out why.

The packaging is different from the brand's usual rectangular matte one. It comes in a round tube with shiny surface. I feel like the logo would be scratched off easily. There's nothing fancy about it - just simple and functional. Sometimes it does annoy me as it rolls around a lot lol. You will have to look at the bottom to identify the color so that is another annoying aspect of this packaging.

The product has a creamy texture, and it glides on like a butter. It melts as soon as it touches the lips - which is a big reason to keep this away from any heat. Since the color is unforgiving, it is a bit hard to apply evenly without accentuating dry areas. It may not be a good choice of color for those with very dry lips. One advice is to use a finger to help distribute the product by dabbing. It is a must to exfoliate beforehand and prime the lips with a lip balm. Before application, it is a good idea to wipe off the lip balm excess as this doesn't apply well over a lip balm. However, this is non-drying so my lips don't become flaky after hours of wear. Since the texture of this lipstick is a bit buttery, the product slides around the lips a little and takes a bit longer to settle nicely. Once it is settled, it has a beautiful glossy finish. Plus, the color is super gorgeous and pigmented.

The lasting power is pretty decent but nothing impressive. It does fade out after eating/drinking and barely leaves any tints behind. Because this product melts so easily when it comes to contact with heat, I'm really afraid to carry it around with me. So, once the color wears off, I just reapply with another lipstick instead. Such a shame because this has such a lovely color.

QUICK TAKE

  • It is a nice non-drying pigmented lipstick with a glossy finish and a beautiful color
  • #4 Joyce is an unforgiving shade so it does accentuate dry areas on the lips
  • It takes some time to settle nicely onto the lips but it stays put once settled
  • It has a moderate lasting power and doesn't really leave stains afterwards
  • One thing to be aware of is the fact that it melts easily, so take caution if you're going to carry it around during the day

I don't think this is a total 'miss' product. I love the shade although it has some problems as mentioned. I may consider trying out more colors and see if others apply better than this one.
