I must have been attracted to all the rosy coral lipsticks out there after I fell in love with the phenomenally popular YSL #52. I don't know why, but I keep finding dupes of it without even realizing lol. I just thought, "oh, this shade looks pretty," and it turns out to be a good dupe of the YSL one. Well, so here I am with another review of a dupe for the YSL '52 Rosy Coral.' The product in question today is the recently released Guerlain KissKiss Shaping Cream Lip Color '343 Sugar Kiss'. This is my first Guerlain lipstick ever, and I have to say I'm impressed. I'll get to that in a bit. If you are curious to find out why, keep on reading! By the way, click HERE if you want to check out the post on another dupe of YSL #52 (YSL '33 Rose Neillia').
Guerlain KissKiss Shaping Cream Lip Color has a hydrating formula which aims to create plumped and fuller lips for youthful look. It comes in a luxurious black tube instead of Guerlain lipstick 's usual gold tube. The tube design is one of the most unique ones I've seen in high-end market.
The shade label is on the bottom of the tube so it may be a good idea to store this lipstick upside down if you have several of them.
The bullet is slanted and pointy. I found this shape of bullet great for precise application around lips corners, compared to less pointy ones like YSL Rouge Volupte's. It has a sweet scent that's not too overpowering.
Here is a swatch of Guerlain 'Sugar Kiss' next to the YSL 'Rosy Coral.' Guerlain 'Sugar Kiss' is a shimmer-free rosy coral color. It has a tad bit more orange to it and is far less neon-y/bright than the YSL 'Rosy Coral.' It also has more gloss and sheen.
This is the 2 dupes compared to each other and to the YSL 'Rosy Coral.' It may not be very clear in this photo, but YSL 'Rose Neillia' has a bit more pink than the Guerlain 'Sugar Kiss,' and is more neon-y. It also has very subtle micro shimmers, which is absent in Guerlain's. However, the 2 dupes have similar finish and texture. Out of the two, I'd say YSL 'Rose Neillia' is a more accurate dupe, but Guerlain 'Sugar Kiss' is not far behind.
Just like the YSL 'Rosy Coral,' Guerlain 'Sugar Kiss' turns out pinkish on my lips relative to the arm swatch. It's actually brighter than than it is shown in the lip swatches here.
It glides on really smoothly and doesn't accentuate dry patches or lip lines (given you exfoliate and apply lip balm beforehand). When I tried it on, I instantly understood the 'shaping' part in its
name - it has a sculpting effect by which it makes my lips look plumped
and fuller. This lipstick is pigmented, moisturizing, and long-lasting. Even after meal, I can still see some color on my lips. Without heavy eating/drinking, this usually last me around 4-5 hours before it starts to fade. What I adore about this lipstick is that it doesn't appear blotchy or dry out my lips out as it fades.
QUICK TAKE
- Moisturizing
- Feels lightweight and non-sticky
- Pigmented and long-lasting (4-5 hours without heavy eating/drinking)
- Glides on smoothly
- Doesn't accentuate dry patches and lip lines
- High sheen finish
- Make lips look fuller with lips-shaping effect
- Survives meal pretty well
- Fades beautifully without appearing blotchy or becoming drying
- Compared to YSL 'Rosy Coral,' this has a tad bit more orange, more shine, and is less bright/neon-y.
I am so in love with my first Guerlain lipstick. I think my love for this even surpasses my love for YSL's, which says a lot. I always hear from others that Guerlain lipsticks are amazing, albeit being expensive - I'd have to say that is pretty much accurate. I'll definitely save up for more Guerlain lipsticks! If you have dry lips, I think you'll love this as much as I do. If you're willing to splurge, it is absolutely something you should try =) Until next post!
By the way, my lovely readers who haven't followed to my blog, make sure you do so to get updates! There's something BIG coming up soon since Christmas is approaching (ahem, giveaway)!
The packaging is so unique. This would be a great alternative of YSL Rosy Coral :) Thanks for the swatches.
