Primera [프리메라] Miracle Seed Essence Review

It's been roughly a month since I started using the Primera [프리메라] Miracle Seed Essence, and it's time for me to tell you whether it is indeed a miracle for my skin. For those who have yet to hear about this brand, it is a brand under AmorePacific, which is the mother company of popular brands like Etude House and Innisfree. Primera is a mid-to-high end brand that focuses on using natural ingredients for their products. I've used some of their bestselling products (click HERE for the review of their Alpine Berry Watery Oil-Free Gel Cream), and I loved them. Therefore, when I decided to try out this essence, I was expecting quite a lot out of it.

Primera [프리메라] Miracle Seed Essence contains 93.1% Lotus seed extract generated upon germination to create radiant, glowing skin. It claims to refine skin texture, tone, and improve skin transparency.

This product is available at: W2Beauty ($57.51), Shop at Korea ($49.50), Twofacemall ($50.40)

I purchased the set version, which comes with the essence (150ml) and cotton pads (70 pads), retailing at 45,000 Won - I'm not sure if the set is still available, but the essence by itself can be found at many online store selling Korean cosmetics. By the way, the set costs the same as the essence alone, so the set version is a better deal if you can find one.

Ingredients: Lotus seed extract, Niacinamide, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Yeast ferment extract, Methyl Gluceth-20, Citric acid, Xanthan gum, Sodium citrate, Moringa

Here is an ingredient list translated by Cosdna. None of the ingredients are considered an irritant or acne trigger, and it doesn't contain alcohol - salute to Primera for this awesome formula. Those with dry skin don't need to worry if it's going to dry out your skin, and those with sensitive skin can use this product with lower chance of irritation.

As with all Primera products, the box can be spread to show product information printed on the inside. The brand actively participates in 'going green' campaign, so this is one way it saves the environment - by conserving paper.

Written here is the product claims and usage direction. It's pretty hard to read here - you can find the same information in the product description box above.

The box contains a box of cotton pads (100% natural cotton, 70 pads) and the essence.

The amount of cotton pads is pretty generous. If you use the essence per direction (5ml/day), you will even end up with extra cotton pads. The quality is not bad, however, I find that it falls apart pretty easily if you're not careful. It doesn't eat up the product so it is ideal to use with watery essence.

The essence comes in a luxurious frosted glass bottle, so you have to take extra precaution if you're going to travel with it. The ticks on the bottle help you control the amount you use daily. The instruction on the cap said to use 5ml per day, so that means it's supposed to last me 30 days as there are 30 ticks on the bottle (each tick denotes one day or 5ml). Just so it's clear, you use half the tick in the morning, and another half in the evening. The bottle dispenses the product easily, so you better be careful when you pour out the product.

The essence is transparent and has a watery consistency. I thought this might have unpleasant smell like the SK-II but it doesn't. In fact, it doesn't have any noticeable smell. I apply this with a cotton pad after toner and taps skin gently with my palm to enhance absorption. It feels slightly sticky at first but absorbs quite quickly and doesn't feel sticky on skin afterwards. I can feel my skin become instantly moisturized and soft. After about a month of religiously using this essence, I did notice my skin texture becoming smooth and more even. It also doesn't make my skin oilier or break me out. This is probably the first germination/fermentation essence that doesn't give me allergic reaction, so thumbs up to that. It does make my skin tone a bit brighter and more glowy, but it doesn't seem to help much with my redness and clogged pores problems.

QUICK TAKE

  • Moisturizing
  • Good for all skin types, even sensitive skin
  • Non-sticky and absorbs quickly
  • Watery texture, transparent, no noticeable smell
  • Skin becomes instantly soft and moisturized after application
  • Doesn't break me out or make my face oilier
  • No allergic reaction
  • Skin tone is slightly brighter and more glowy
  • Doesn't help much with redness and clogged pores problems
  • No alcohol

I think this is a good product for moisturizing and refining skin texture. I feel like those who love SK-II facial treatment essence (which breaks me out, by the way) will love this as a more economical alternative. Have you tried this kind of essence before? Feel free to share your thoughts below!

  13. Wow, its a great thing that they sell the set with cotton pads in the same price. I love the packaging and, it indeed looks expensive. That's smart how they put a mark for every 5ml.

Btw the cotton pad looks interesting actually, because it's not white like most cotton pads in the market LOL.

  14. Yeah, I think the color might be because it's 100% cotton? It sure is nice, although not as nice as the Shiseido one :)
