Hey, ok, so it's been a while! I'm kind of busy these days since I'm studying Korean, and you know, learning a language can take up a lot of your time. I'm also in the process of applying to a language school in Korea so that adds up to the workload :) Anyway, let's get on to what I'm here to talk about today. Recently, Mamonde has become quite popular with Thai bloggers. So many of them talked about the brand and raved about their star product, the First Energy Serum. I was not really familiar with Mamonde, but a swarm of positive reviews made me curious so I decided it's worth a try. I've been using this religiously for over 2 weeks, and I think I've reached a verdict on it. Keep on reading to find out if it lives up to the expectation!

Mamonde First Energy Serum is a booster serum (aka first serum) to balance and prepare your skin for next steps in your skincare routine. It contains 78% honeysuckle aged vinegar derived from 60 days of fermentation to provide clearer, healthier, and younger-looking skin. As this is a booster serum, you would apply this first thing in your routine (except if you use watery toner, then apply this after toner). You can apply the product with cotton pads or hands - I prefer to massage it in by hands since I don't want to waste products on cotton pads.
Available at: ibuybeauti ($21.80), w2beauty ($33.23)
I checked the ingredients on Cosdna and none of them raise any red flags. There are a few that are considered an acne trigger or irritant, but they are still labeled as safe. I guess it all depends on your individual skin reaction. I didn't experience any breakouts or irritations whatsoever. It does contain alcohol but it should not pose serious risks with this amount. The serum has a delicate floral scent, as you'd expect since it contains such a high amount of flower extract. The scent does linger around a bit, but I don't mind it because it smells beautiful.
The serum comes in a frosted plastic bottle. 100 ml is quite a generous amount for a serum - I think it will last me a while. The bottle is light, and the cap is secured, so I'd say it's safe to travel with this.
One pump dispenses just the right amount I need for my whole face and neck. When I first opened the product, I noticed that the pump was not tightly screwed so make sure you check that out before start using it.
The serum appears milky in color and is slightly runny in consistency. It has a lightweight texture that absorbs very quickly when applied. I think it is one of the fastest absorbing serum I've tried. When I first began using it, I felt like it didn't really provide much moisture to the skin. But, after using it for a few more times, it actually is quite moisturizing - hydrating enough for normal to oily skin. If you have dry skin, I would recommend you to top up with another hydrating serum before applying a moisturizer. Normal to oily skin can use this alone with a moisturizer - I have normal-oily combo skin and this is sufficient for me. As soon as I apply this, my skin instantly become soft, slightly hydrated, and silky smooth. It doesn't feel sticky whatsoever - those with oily skin will appreciate this. The serum prepares my skin well so the cream that I apply afterwards sink in better. Also, if I wear makeup, I can see foundation goes on more smoothly.
After using this for well over 2 weeks, I can see a clear improvement on my skin texture. It became smooth and free of rough patches. Although I haven't really noticed my skin becoming brighter, I can see that it is not as prone to redness as it usually is. Furthermore, my skin does feel healthier and slightly less oily. I think it does a great job regulating water-oil balance in my skin - that's why it produces less excess sebum. Additionally, it didn't trigger allergic reaction from my skin. It also didn't cause me breakouts or clog my pores.
QUICK TAKE
- Moderately moisturizing
- Great for normal to oily skin, dry skin may have to top up with another serum before applying cream
- Non-sticky, lightweight texture
- Absorbs quickly
- Leaves skin soft and silky smooth
- Products that are applied afterwards sink in better
- Foundation goes on smoother
- Clear improvement on my skin texture
- No noticeable change in skin tone but skin became less prone to redness
- Skin feels healthier and slightly less oily
- No breakouts or clogged pores
- Delicate floral scent lingers around a bit
- Contains a small amount of alcohol that shouldn't pose serious risks
Overall, I have to say I'm impressed! This is my first Mamonde product, and I'm sure it will not be the last. I highly recommend this serum to anyone, especially those who want to improve skin texture or those who are looking for fast-absorbing lightweight serum. What do you think about this product? Have you tried anything from Mamonde before? Feel free to share any thoughts!

Sounds like a nice product. I just tried a BB cream from Mamonde, and a sheet mask. Other than this the whole brand is still new to me and I'm happy about reading their product reviews :)

I'm glad this worked on you. I had a sample of this and tried it because it's one of their bestsellers. I decided to stop using it though because I had breakouts few days after using. I recommend you to try their Real Skin founder, I didn't like it so much when i reviewed it, felt like it was just an average product but I use it daily now and I'm going to buy a new one soon. lol
Thanks for the review!
Thank you, Marxie! I'm looking at several schools but I think I'm gonna go with Yonsei :) Sorry to hear that this breaks you out. I'm lucky that this works out well for me. Definitely wanna try out the Real Skin Founder! Have been thinking of getting it for a while now! Thanks for the recommendation :D
